The company is planning to renovate the current Starbucks and expand into a neighboring vacant space, costing $475,000, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. Plans show interior and exterior covered patio seating. The Jacksonville City Planning Department is currently reviewing the permit application to renovate the almost 5,000-square-foot building that was built in 2001. The company is also nearing completion of a new location in East Arlington.

While a new site is being constructed at the Atlantic North Shopping Center, the Girvin location is the only one in the area. The next closest Starbucks is in Neptune Beach, followed by two in the Beach Haven area. If the city approves these plans, this location will be temporarily closed while the company renovates the spaces. In the meantime, residents of Girvin will have to rely on other local coffee roasters to get their caffeine fix, such as the recently opened Gahwa Cafe in the Harbor Village Plaza.

While these two new Starbucks in the area won’t be ready until later this year, the company is gearing up for a strong summer, loaded with new offerings. Starbucks is offering two new drinks to order: the Chocolate Java Mint Frappuccino blended beverage and White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew, as well as a new Bumblebee Cake Pop. In grocery stores, fans of the brand can buy the new Green Apron Blend or Starbuck’s new line of summer merchandise, including nine new cups, tumblers, and water bottles.
