The new location is the latest from franchise owner Andrew Brophy, who also owns the Sonic Drive-In at 2162 Nw 39th Avenue in Gainesville. There is no exact opening date, but the company is awaiting a processing plan review application from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. The fast-food restaurant was originally proposed west of Interstate 75, and the development board approved the plans in 2021. Now, the franchisee is getting closer to opening another location.

When the new Sonic Drive-In opens, it will sit on a vacant plot of land near the Town Square Shopping Center. Customers can expect various American fast food options, such as burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, slushies, and more. Sonic Drive-In continues to pique customers’ interest with its limited-time deals, most recently offering a peanut butter and bacon burger and milkshake.

Now, the company has tapped Reba McEntire to promote the quick-service chain, highlighting her favorite meal at the 3,500-unit chain: a cheeseburger and potato tots paired with a new chocolate-covered strawberry shake. The meal is being marketed as Reba’s Sweetheart Meal and is available from February 12 through March 3 at a median price of $10.39.

“February is the month to celebrate love, and there’s no better way to do that than with the exclusive Reba’s Sweetheart Meal and the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shake,” Mackenzie Gibson, Sonic’s vice president of culinary and menu innovation, said in a press release. “Reba McEntire is a national icon who has regularly shared her love for our crave-able menu over the years, and we’ve partnered with her this month to give guests an exclusive Reba’s date night experience.”
