Last year, Pour Taproom signed a letter of intent to lease nearly 9,000 square feet of indoor and patio on the ground floor of the VyStar Forsyth Garage along Laura Street, but few details followed at the time of the announcement. Now, it’s become clearer as to what’s happening with the space. The owners of Pour Taproom have teamed up with Jeremy Gatto, a New York native who has launched several pizzerias in Atlanta, to help open a space that is half pour taproom and half pizzeria.

Dynamo Pizza will have a full-service dining area with inside and outside seating featuring a full bar program in both areas, which means customers sitting outside won’t have to go back inside to get another drink. The standalone pizzeria will also double as an event space with a divider wall in the middle that can open up for larger parties and events. As for food, customers can expect a true New York-style pizza made with 72-hour proofed dough that is 100 percent organic sourdough. On top of delicious pizza, the restaurant will also have calzones and other tasty options. Food will also be available for pickup and delivery.

Gatto, who is the owner and operator of Pizza Jeans and the upcoming Luca’s Brooklyn Pizzeria in Atlanta, tells What Now Jacksonville that the development is finally moving forward, with the group of owners recently signing an operator agreement. He hopes construction will break ground in the next 30 to 45 days, with a projected opening date set for September or October 2024.

When it opens, customers can expect a splash of vibrant colors and nostalgic decor that will remind anyone of the 80s, especially in New York City. The space will have a retro color pallet with video games and arcade games, pinball machines, boomboxes, and more spread out throughout the area. Gatto tells What Now Jacksonville that the team is excited to bring a taste of New York to Jacksonville.
