Executive chef/ general manager Melissa Baker recently applied for a permit review application from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. She tells What Now Jacksonville that this new location will open by the end of the year and will serve gourmet coffee, freshly baked pastries, and southern-style breakfast and lunch items. Magnolia Cafe will open across the street from the Island Walk Shopping Center.

The new cafe will be surrounded by other eateries in the building, including Thai Spice Cafe, Fancy Sushi, and Surcheros Fresh Mex. While this will be the only coffee-focused business in the building, the company will still have to compete with 7 Brew Coffee and Starbucks across the street. Despite the competition, this should be an excellent location for the company’s new venture, considering how much foot traffic will come from other surrounding businesses. Magnolia Cafe will also use its mom-and-pop background to win its customers.

“Each morning, our bakers are hard at work to deliver fresh donuts for our guests,” according to Southern Donut Co.’s website. “Our bakers have taken time to test and ensure our house-made donuts, glazes, and toppings are made with real fruit and fresh ingredients to deliver the most delicious products for our customers. We work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients for all of our donuts, breakfast, and lunch items. We use a balance of old-fashioned techniques and new-age technology to ensure the highest quality.”
