A few months ago, Zach Presti submitted plan review applications for two restaurants: Canopy Road Cafe at 10560 Old St. Augustine Road and something called Eggboy Breakfast Sandwiches at 1241 Mayport Road. Presti asked What Now Jacksonville to refrain from reporting on the latter, hoping not to undercut another development in progress. Now, it’s become clearer where this new concept will end up. The team behind Canopy Road Cafe is working on a spinoff breakfast concept for The Block Jax.

Eggboy Breakfast Sandwiches appears to be landing in the newest development from Daniel Moffatt, the founder of Kanine Social, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. The company recently announced it is opening a second location of the successful dog park and bar concept at the entrance to Southside Quarter at southeast Gate Parkway and Village Crossing Drive. Attached to the company’s second Kanine Social will be a new development called The Block Jax, featuring an outdoor food hall, live music venue, and play park for children.

The new food hall will have space for eight vendors and a craft food bar, with plenty of other features to keep anyone entertained while visiting. Moffatt is recruiting experienced area restaurateurs to expand current eateries or potentially try out new concepts. Other tentative food operations include new concepts from the owners of The Bearded Pig, The Bread & Board, and the San Marco Chz Fry Co. Eggboy Breakfast Sandwiches will offer a variety of breakfast sandwiches and delicious coffee options. The Block Jax is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2024.
