This is the newest project from Up-Side Management Co., also known as Up-Side Management Construction Co. The Jacksonville-based company requested a zoning change earlier this month from Commercial Community/General-Springfield to a Planned Unit Development for the 1.19-acre property, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. The Jacksonville Planning Commission voted unanimously at the beginning of the month to recommend rezoning approval.

If the developer can get a rezoning change, it will allow for the sale and service of all alcoholic beverages for on-premise and off-premise consumption. Once approved, Up-Side Management Co. will create a venue that will feature food trucks, mini kitchens, and retail and recreational facilities. The new concept is modeled after the Starland Yard in Savannah, Georgia, which features rotating food trucks, a bar, and events, including local music, art, and culture.

This isn’t the first time this plot of land has been proposed for a new entertainment venue. Entrepreneur Evan Metz previously planned to open the Alberi outdoor entertainment venue, but he is no longer involved with the project. Now Up-Side Management Co., owned by Victor Letourneaut, hopes to follow in the footsteps and open this new food venue once the company can clear all the hoops it has to jump, including a bill that would waive the 1,500-foot distance requirement from churches and schools.
