Owner Lori Watson of Atlantic Beach Party Place, LLC recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Professional Business & Regulation to open a newly constructed site. The application was approved last week, meaning customers can expect this new coffee shop will open in a few months. 1985 Coffee hopes to move into a space that the Florida Turf Company currently occupies and, before that, Creative Glass Works.

The new independent coffee shop should see great success with several other businesses in the area, including two hotels and the Atlantic Beach Country Club. On top of the strong foot traffic, 1985 Coffee won’t have much competition, with only a Dunkin’ nearby. Further south, there are a handful of coffee shops on Atlantic Boulevard, mainly chain eateries.

While Watson was unavailable for additional details, one can assume the eatery will offer a handful of different coffee options, with possibly a few snacks available for purchase. While new coffee shops are always coming in and out of Northeast Florida, the newcomers have been forced to compete with several high-end chains that have expanded their brands throughout the area, including 7Brew, Southern Grounds, Dutch Bros., and more.
