The national chicken chain Chick-fil-A is looking to open its second location in Nassau County, this time coming to Yulee at 463915 SR 200.
The company recently submitted plans to the St. Johns Water Management District to open a new site at the Publix- and Kohl ’s-anchored Villages of Amelia Shopping Center, according to the Florida Times-Union. If approved, Chick-fil-A will open a 5,201-square-foot restaurant with dual drive-thru, walk-up pick-up ordering stations, and a small outdoor patio. This will be the second drive-thru-only Chick-fil-A in Northeast Florida, sitting on a 1.58-acre outparcel at the mall.
The company made its Nassau County debut nearly two decades ago when the restaurant opened at 464004 SR 200, a little over a half-mile from this proposed location. Neither of these locations will have inside dining rooms, a concept the company first introduced in 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky. The design proved popular as the company continued to push out the model in other states, opening a new drive-thru/walk-up window-only location in Hawaii last year.
Chick-fil-A continues to expand throughout the country, with plans to open a quick-service restaurant brand in Europe and Asia by 2026, with a presence in five international markets by 2030. The company previously tried to enter other international markets but failed to succeed. Chick-fil-A’s attempt to enter London ended in 2019 when LGBTQ rights activists continually protested the location. Now, the company is investing $1 billion into expanding into Europe and Asia in the next few years.
