Originally slated for a 2022 opening, the restaurant faced delays which caused them to instead decide to open this year, sometime between March and May, according to co-owner and founder Joey Brown. An official grand opening date has not yet been determined.

What Now Jacksonville spoke with Brown about what makes the Springfield expansion different from the existing location, and about the overall excitement surrounding its opening.

“Springfield will be more Tulua, and more of myself and my business partner, Lacey. We will be even bolder with everything, especially around the aesthetics and our events. The design is over the top and loaded with bright colors and glitter, while our events will be much edgier and bolder. Springfield has a much more artistic design and will include a mini arcade. Springfield will also include a hard liquor license and have a seating capacity of almost 3x our Jacksonville Beach location. Springfield will be open for brunch from 8 am-3 pm like Jacksonville Beach, but will also include Friday and Saturday night hours,” Brown said in an email.

Tulua Springfield, like the Jacksonville Beach location, will host drag brunches and bingo events to raise funds benefitting local resources, such as the University of North Florida’s LGBTQ Center.

“Both locations will host drag brunches and will be community-centered with regular fundraisers and events themed around each specific local neighborhood. We will also serve our famous bottomless mimosas and have the same food menu as Jacksonville Beach. We plan on incorporating six large-scale murals at the Springfield location, all honoring people we look up to. You will absolutely feel and know you are in Tulua at both spaces without even needing to see our logo,” Brown told What Now Jacksonville.

The brunch menu at Tulua Springfield will serve charcuterie breakfast boards, chicken and waffles, eggs benedicts, build-your-own omelets, loaded bagels, breakfast burritos and bowls, crepes, and will also offer vegetarian and vegan options.
