Owner Frank Ashdji recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for a new cafe. The application is still being processed, and Ashdji has yet to respond to What Now Jacksonville. A new Instagram account has been made for this coffee shop, but there have yet to be any posts. When Vilano Coffee Shop opens on the ground floor of the Holiday Inn Express St. Augustine – Vilano Beach, customers can expect various coffee, ice cream, snacks, and other drinks.

While an empty Instagram page doesn’t offer insight into when this new concept will open, the few followers suggest what it may be related to or be replacing. While Vilano Coffee Shop already has over 140 followers, it only follows three accounts, two of which are Vilano Main Street Diner and its owner, Chef Ellie Schultze. This new diner was announced in 2021 with a goal to open the following year in the same location as Vilano Coffee Shop. Earlier this year, in August, the company announced they are still not open and are waiting on “construction holding patterns,” according to an Instagram post.

Whether or not Vilano Coffee Shop and Vilano Main Street Diner are coming together to create a one-of-a-kind experience for hotel guests, Vilano Beach will soon have a new morning eatery with plenty of delicious food and drinks. Vilano Main Street Diner will offer diner breakfast & lunch dishes elevated through from-scratch recipes using local ingredients whenever possible. Vilano Coffee Shop will provide a well-balanced coffee program with various quick grab-and-go snacks.
