The new coffee shop will move into the former home of Espressos, which has been standing vacant for the past sixteen years, according to co-owner Suellen Smith. She tells What Now Jacksonville that despite being vacant for so long, the building has been well-maintained since Espressos lived there. She and Chromer Smith will use the space to bring Fernandina Beach a welcoming environment with high-grade equipment and delicious coffee.

Suellen, a second generation of Fernandina Beach, couldn’t give an exact opening date. She tells What Now Jacksonville she anticipates it will be sometime in late fall/ early winter if everything goes accordingly. For now, the owners are focusing on getting their plan review approved by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. Once things are approved, the Smiths should see no problems converting this former coffee shop into a new one.

Garry Fehrman originally opened Espressos in the space in 2006, lasting for about a year before closing. Now that some time has passed and new businesses have moved into the area, this should be an excellent location for Holy Grounds Coffee House of Fernandina Beach. While the area is still home to the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce, only two food options are nearby: Captain Jack’s Smokehouse and Cantina Louie. This new coffee house will give local businesses and residents a place to grab a delicious cup of coffee or snack.
