The company has been announced as the newest tenant coming to Dunn Village shopping center, next to Arble Bakery, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. License owner Edwin Williams Jr. tells What Now Jacksonville he expects to open this new location in late September or early October 2023. Dreamette has one corporate-owned location, operated by company owner Johnny Nettles, in Murray Hill, as well as licensed shops in Springfield, San Marco, Atlantic Beach, St. Johns County, and three in Clay County.

The company is known as one of Jacksonville’s oldest ice cream shops, first opening in 1948. Since opening, the company has seen several changes in ownership, with Nettles taking over in 2008 after retiring from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. While he operates the main site in Murray Hill, the owner still trains all operators to guarantee the licensees succeed in their venture and ensure the menu, ingredients, and recipes are the same as the original store at 3646 Post Street.

Dreamette offers staples like the famous Banana Split in a Cup and Dipped Ice Cream Cones, as well as new additions since its first opening, such as gluten-free cones, bread pudding sundaes, sugar-free ice cream, and non-dairy ice cream. Customers even get a free pup cup/ cone for their four-legged friends with any purchase from the menu. Williams will surely see a great opportunity with this location as there is plenty of foot traffic in the area.

“I looked at the Northside, and it is underserved for food and entertainment,” Williams tells Jacksonville Daily Record. “There are a lot of food places but not a lot of sweets. And it is one of the fastest-growing areas of Jacksonville. Dreamette is recognized in the Jacksonville area. I went there as a child, and a lot of other people went as a child. This is what I wanted to be a part of.”
