Franchise owner Krupal Patel and his business partner Bhavin Patel recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to open a new Checkers later this year. The site needs to be built out, and the franchise owners are still waiting on approval from the city, but the new site is expected to open by the end of the year. This will be the eighth Checkers in the greater Jacksonville area, with the next closest site being at 7214 103rd St.

Checkers, also known as Rally’s in other parts of the country, specializes in hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and milkshakes. While the two concepts offer the same menu items and serve the same exact food provided by the same distributors, Checkers is known to serve in the Southeast and Northeast, while Rally’s serves the Midwest and California. Checkers and Rally’s merged in 1999. The Tampa-based company is now getting ready to open a new location in Jacksonville with the help of Krupal and Bhavin Patel, who are also the owners of Tikka Bowls and Tacos.

“Checkers and Rally’s were built on the belief that fast food could be done better,” according to the company’s website. “Turns out that’s true! With a focus on great flavor-packed food, great value, and great fast service, we’re so much more than a burger restaurant. Our fame goes beyond our signature Famous Seasoned Fries. So, whether you order your Checkers online for delivery or cruise the Rally’s driRallydriRally’son crushing any craving.”
