The new concept will replace V Pizza in the Fleming Plaza shopping center, according to Jacksonville Business Journal. Founder Philip Maple‘s new business will offer 20 beers and a pizza menu with “crazy” topping options. Construction on the project is expected to begin within the next two months, taking about six to nine months to complete the build. Barley & Pie Brewing Co. hopes to open by January 2024 but will be happy with a St. Patrick’s Day grand opening.

“Growing up, one thing my dad always did was brew craft beer and made pizza dough,” Maple tells the Jacksonville Business Journal. “I’ve had a burning desire to do pizza recipes for 20 years and look forward to offering a pie baked in a Neapolitan oven. We don’t use manufactured dough. There are dozens of pizza bars out there, but none are offering sourdough.”

Maple, a Wisconsin native who previously worked as the former brewmaster of Wicked Barley Brewing Company, expects the new 6,000-square-foot eatery will seat 150 occupants inside and an additional 40 outside under a covered patio. Inside, the brewery will offer an array of craft beers, including multiple lagers, sours, IPAs, and stouts. As for pizza, customers can expect dozens of topping options, such as Buffalo chicken, cheese ravioli topped with asiago, vodka sauce, and a bacon mac and cheese option.
