The new concept will sit between Aloha Waffle Bar and Royalty Smoke Shop, according to a plan review application from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. Owner Nengah Mustika confirms with What Now Jacksonville that this new concept is coming to the shopping center but couldn’t provide additional details. While it’s unknown what this restaurant will serve, pandan leaves are a tropical plant with a naturally sweet taste and soft aroma.

While not much is known about the restaurant, there’s a chance Pandan Leaves features Asian cuisines, especially Indonesian, Malaysian, and Filipino, based on the name. The new restaurant is the brainchild of Mustika, who founded Agile Tech Consulting in 2013. The Jacksonville-based company specializes in custom software development, mobile application development, business intelligence development, and web design services. Now, he is working on a new venture that will rely heavily on Asian influences.

This will be an excellent spot for the new restaurant, across from the Walmart-anchored shopping center. The area is filled with other fast-food eateries like Hardee, Chick-fil-A, Pollo Tropical, and Smoothie King. A new sit-down restaurant would largely benefit the surrounding area of Jacksonville North Estates. While there are a handful of Asian-inspired competitors, such as Panda Express, Sushi Wok, and P.F. Chang’s, this will undoubtedly serve as a one-of-a-kind concept.
