The company’s newest location will open near the UF Health Urgent Care – Wildlight, according to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. This is the latest Huey Magoo’s from Birdbox Ventures LLC, led by Michael Phillips, who is a veteran restaurateur who formerly owned multiple locations of Little Caesars Pizza and Jersey Mike’s Subs. There is no exact opening date for this site, but it’s one of many from the franchise group.

The Orlando-based restaurant debuted in Northeast Florida at Jacksonville Beach before eventually opening another location in Mandarin at 10560 Old St. Augustine Road. Back in 2022, Phillips announced that Birdbox Holdings LLC plans to open as many as six Huey Magoo’s locations in Duval County but never specified exactly where they would be located, but he did say that he is looking for sites large enough to accommodate a traditional drive-thru.

“We’re working on additional units in the Intracoastal market and the Arlington market,” Phillips told the Florida-Times Union in 2022. “We’re going to try to open one or two units a year for the next three years.”

This is one of many franchise groups working on Huey Magoo’s in Northeast Florida. A separate franchise group said it wants to open up to three Huey Magoo’s restaurants in neighboring St. Johns County, starting with a new site that opened at 2490 S. U.S. 1 in St. Augustine in a former Krystal restaurant. The restaurant was founded in 2004 by Matt Armstrong and Thad Hudgens and has been voted “Best Fried Chicken,” “The Best-Rated Fried Chicken in Florida,” and “America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals.”
