With locations already in Morehead City and Raleigh, Dank Burrito is getting ready to double its number of sites through franchising. The company recently announced it is making its way south with a new location in Rock Hill, SC, opening early next year. Now, the company is working on a new site in Ponte Vedra, according to the company’s Instagram. A representative from the company tells What Now Jacksonville that franchisee Micah Staton is in the construction phase and has yet to set an exact opening date.

Dank Burrito takes pride in serving burritos, tacos, and bowls with global flavors, fresh ingredients, and chef techniques. The restaurant is a part of the 81 Hospitality Family of Brands, which includes Circa 81 tapas + cocktaileria restaurant, Beaufort Olive Oil Co., Prime Bistro & Wine Bar, Merrell Estate & Gardens, and Social Q Smokehouse. Chef and owner Clarke Merrell started Dank Burrito as a passion project alongside his wife and co-owner, Liza Merrell. Eventually he launched a food truck in 2014 before opening its first brick-and-mortar the following year.

“Today, we serve our explosive flavors to loyal Danksters and new converts by the thousands,” according to the company’s website. “While the Dank Nation thrives and expands, we keep the same stubborn commitment to excellence and creativity that inspired our very first burrito. Classic but never basic, irreverent, never casual, Dank Burrito is the irresistible favorite you never saw coming.”
