The company’s newest location will move into the former home of the long-closed Sonic Drive-In in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. The restaurant will be operated by franchisees Matt Wycoff and Elizabeth Alfuente. The site, owned by Paul and Reshma Patel, will be a mixed-use concept with the restaurant, a pavilion for seating, a drive-thru, alcoholic options, as well as a rotating food truck with independent businesses that will operate separately and change every day.

“Our reasoning for doing a food truck is to provide actual meals instead of just shaved ice for our patrons, but then at the same time, we don’t have to worry about the overhead because the food trucks will be providing all of their supplies and food,” Alfuente tells JDR.

The Texas-based company was founded by Blake Buchanan in 1990 and has expanded to more than 100 locations in 11 states and Puerto Rico. Florida has locations in Brandon, Jupiter, Kissimmee, Odessa, Orlando, Trinity, and Tarpon Springs. When this new location opens, customers can expect plenty of shaved ice options, which they call “Sno.” There are also a handful of smoothie options, infusions, sodas, and acai bowls. The new Bahama Buck’s will have three points of entry.
