Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria is famous in Rochester, New York, for being a locally loved pizza chain since 1978. The brand announced this week that they will be expanding with their first location outside of New York opening in Jacksonville this summer with the help of franchisee, Ferdinand Formoso. The address will be 4820 Deer Lake Drive West, Suite 11.

With a grand-opening target for July 5, 2023, the Jacksonville location of Salvatore’s aims to pay homage to its origins by opening on the restaurant’s 45th anniversary of its first location. The brand has also announced that this will be the first of many Salvatore’s to open in Jacksonville’s future, according to a news release.

“I grew up eating Salvatore’s pizza, so I’m so excited to bring authentic western New York style pizza to my new home town.  With the expansion of Salvatore’s into our area, the bar for take-out pizza quality is about to get raised,” Formoso told What Now Jacksonville.

Formoso, originally from Fairport, New York, has been in Florida for the past 16 years and has stayed connected to his roots through his family back home. Formoso’s uncle and aunt are long standing restaurateurs in the Rochester area and are friends of Sam Fantauzzo, the founder and CEO of Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria, which is how the connection came to be for the Florida expansion, stated in the release.

The menu for Salvatore’s will include specialty pizzas, pasta entrees, salads, chicken wings, and a dessert menu including cookies, cannoli’s and New York cheesecake.

“In addition to traditional pizza pies, we will introduce the famous Salvatore’s sheet pizza to Jacksonville, which is perfect for large parties and/or sports teams. It will also be a place that you can stop in for a quick slice of pizza at lunch, with many freshly made pizza ‘super slice’ choices that are ready to go within minutes,” Formoso said.
