The newest Zaxby’s location coming to Jacksonville was recently granted its building permit last week, as reported by the Jacksonville Daily Record. The building is 2,904 square feet, and construction costs are $1.5 million.
Located at 3175 New Berlin Rd, this Zaxby’s is owned and operated by The JASZ Group, an independent Zaxby’s franchising group in the Jacksonville area. A grand-opening date has not yet been confirmed, but it is likely that it will see a fall or winter 2023 opening.
Originally founded in 1990 in Georgia, Zaxby’s is known for being a Southern-inspired fast-casual chain of restaurants serving chicken fingers, buffalo wings, sandwiches, salads, fries and its famous “Zax Sauce.”
Through franchising, the brand has grown to over 925 locations in the U.S. over the last thirty years, with a quarter of those locations being in Georgia. There are currently 112 Zaxby’s in Florida.
According to Zaxby’s franchising website, “through a love of bringing people together over our food, we strive to impact our communities through opportunity, growth, and experience.”
The Zax sauce is a closely guarded secret recipe, which originally was made solely by its founder, Zach McLeroy, before manufacturing the sauce for retail. It’s said that the sauce is still a secret, due to the manufacturing process ensuring not one person would know the recipe from start to finish.
Zaxby’s also prides itself in using fresh ingredients and 100% white meat chicken and aims to give back to local communities.
“The Zaxby’s values tell us that when we work hard and pursue greatness while focusing on a culture of service, we build stronger foundations, families, networks, businesses, and communities,” states the website.
