Earlier this week, original owners Phil and Megan Visali sold the business to Beau Ward and Dawn Kenney for an undisclosed amount, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. The new owners plan to keep the 4,900-square-foot restaurant as a sports bar. The Visalis still own and operate the Players Grille in Mandarin and Oakleaf, as well as the recent grand opening in Brooklyn at the ground level of the Home2Suites hotel. The timeline for any potential changes for the Miramar location is unclear.

Prior to the purchase, Players Grille Miramar, as well as all the other locations, was known as a fun, family-friendly sports bar and grill with over 50 TVs and a huge game room. The restaurant offered a variety of delicious bar foods, ranging from starters such as potato skins, jalapeno poppers, old bay fries, and more, to entrees, including salads, sandwiches, wings, and more. It’s unclear the extent of how much of this menu will remain, but considering it will stay a sports bar concept, customers should expect a similar menu.

Ward and Kenney will have no problems getting customers in the doors of the new Players Locker Room, and Jacksonville has always had a special place in their hearts for sports bars. Before taking over this business, Kenney has served as the Director of Business Development at Harris Capital Mortgage Group, and before that was the CEO of JamieRocks & Co., a wholesale jewelry company. Kenney has also been a business owner, developer, or partner with several other ventures in Jacksonville.

“I’ve enjoyed being a Business Owner/Partner/Devloper most of my adult life,” according to Kenney via Linkedin. “My most recent ventures include my continued interest in Grease Lock (For Restaurant Facilities), a Wine Bar, Jewelry Businesses, and a Cattle Company. I enjoy training the staff and watching them grow. Helping our team members become leaders or develop the skills needed to move to the next level is so rewarding. I believe that is what helps us surround ourselves with the best possible team and I enjoy being a part of that.”
