With flavors like Blueberry Toast Crunch and Gillespie’s Bourbon Pecan, Mayday Handcrafted Ice Cream’s inventive and original ice cream flavors don’t just pair with anything. However, it has found an unlikely ally in St. Augustine’s iconic DOS Coffee. And it’s a match made in heaven for these local treasures.

The shop will be located at 4853 Big Island Drive near St. Johns Town Center. The dual-branded concept will be right in the heart of Jacksonville’s shopping and dining district, where it will make for a perfect pit stop for coffee or dessert (or both).

According to a recent permit, the shop will contain 1,578 square feet of space to share.

Stephen DiMare is the owner of Mayday Handcrafted Ice Cream, which has seven locations in St. Augustine, Jacksonville Beach, San Marco, Brooklyn, and River City Marketplace. DiMare is also the owner The Hypo, a popular artisan popsicle company, which got its start selling in coffee shops in St. Augustine, according to the website. So, it’s no wonder why the Mayday dual-branded concept took flight.

With gourmet, creative flavors, DiMare hasn’t been afraid of experimentation, either with Mayday’s creamy concoctions or Hypo’s ice pops on a stick. And his chilly creations have been a hit with the hot tourists along the streets of St. George because of it — who can be seen roaming around with a treat in hand all summer long.

“The idea behind the pops was simple – fresh fruit, cane sugar, and whatever other interesting things might go along with those,” DiMare said in his online bio.
