Partners Andrew Suslak and Brandon Merkle’s will soon open Post Modern Brewing in the former Pure Oil station at 2951 Post St. The duo’s craft brewery has received approval for a $563,053.72 “Level 3” alteration to the historic building just east of Roosevelt Boulevard, per the JBJ.

“This approval follows a four-year bureaucratic journey. The home brewers first had to earn federal Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau brewpub approval and a state license to brew commercially,” the report states.

According to the permit, construction will include “demolition and reconfiguration of architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.”

A Facebook post from two years ago underscores the trials of opening the brewery:

“We know people have been wondering about the progress of Post Modern Brewing. We are still working steadily towards opening!”

“Wanted to also let everyone know that as we have families ourselves, with young children, we plan to be family-friendly.”

“Along with that, we plan to have tasty non-alcoholic options such as craft sodas and coffee! Looking forward to doing business in the community that we live in and love.”
