Another brewery will be added to the Jacksonville Beach area this year. Jekyll Brewing, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, will open its first out-of-state taproom in the new Jax Beach Town Center development in March or April of this year, located at 127 1st Ave. N.
Jekyll Brewing has three locations in Georgia and is known for their largely seafood-focused food menu with dishes like steamed mussels, shrimp and grits and seasonal gator bites. Their beer selection includes IPA’s, lagers, brown ales, fruited sours as well as their own brand of spiked hard seltzers and a full cocktail menu.
The Georgia locations of Jekyll Brewing often feature live music every Friday and Saturday to add to the festive environment, according to their website.
The Jacksonville Beach location of Jekyll Brewing has been almost two years in the making. The business was announced as one of the initial tenants for the new Jax Beach Town Center development and will neighbor Oaxaca Club Mexican restaurant from Mark Janasik.
The space will consist of a two-story corner location with over 6,000 square feet of indoor dining and almost 2,000 square feet of outdoor patio space, including a rooftop patio with ocean views, as reported by First Coast News.
Jekyll Brewing owner Michael Lundmark initially told First Coast News about the expansion. “Coming to Jacksonville Beach as our first Florida location was important to both me and our brand given Jacksonville Beach’s close proximity to Jekyll Island, where the first brewery of the deep south was established in 1734. I can’t wait to serve the Jax Beach community and introduce our brand,” Lundmark said.
