According to recent public records, a classic national ice cream brand is set to open in Gainesville. Baskin Robbins, led by franchisee Vishal Patel, will open at 1111 W University Avenue in Gainesville’s University district.

In a brief call with What Now Jax, Vishal Patel confirmed the development and his role as franchisee, though he declined to provide additoinal information.
Baskin-Robbins was founded in 1945 in Glendale, California by Burton Baskin and Irvine Robbins, ice cream enthusiasts and brothers-in-law, whose passion inspired what is now the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, the official website states.
“What was once a selection of 31 flavors—Baskin-Robbins “31®” stands for a different ice cream flavor for each day of the month—has grown to more than 1,400 in its flavor library.”
No opening date has been announced.
